MINERAL: Stibnite

LOCATION: Herja, Romania

Stibnite is the primary ore of antimony and therefore is sometimes called antimonite. Very attractive and very affordable thumbnail of this somewhat rare, but popular mineral. This specimen contains two acticular, radiating, intersecting stibnite crystal clusters. The individual needles are sharp and well formed. There is no damage on this rather stunning specimen. It measures 15mm x 22m x 21 mm and is mounted in a Perky box.

MINERAL: Uvite with Magnesite

LOCATION: Brumado Mine, Bahia Brazil

Uvite is a tourmaline. These are dark green and display the somewhat rare hexagonal shape. They are hemimorphic, meaning that the two ends of the crystal are not exactly the same on both sides. This is a small thumbnail measuring 12 x 8 x 7 with three crystals of Uvite, two of which are twinned.

MINERAL: Vanadinite

LOCATION: J. C. Holmes Mine, Santa Cruz Co, AZ

Vanadinite is a lead mineral colored by vanadium and thus typically red to brown in color. The mineral has a resinous luster you can see in the photo. this is a relatively rare mineral usually found in the oxidation zone of ore deposits of galena and other lead minerals. This thumbnail is 28 mm x 15 mm x 7 mm of Vanadinite crystals on matrix. No damage.

MINERAL: Glaukosphaerite

LOCATION:Kasompi Mine (Menda Mine; Kasompi Hill), Swambo, Central area, Katanga Copper Zone, Katanga (Shaba), Congo (Zaïre)

This is a rarity for collectors. This arborescent Glaukosphaerite from Kasompi Mine is an excellent 30 mm x 18 mm x 12 mm specimen of light to medium green. It is found in a deposit of rare-earths minerals such as schuilingite-(Nd) and gyisinite-(Nd). The find is documented on the web . Truly unusual, and so rare that this is the only specimen we found in a week of searching at the Tucson show. One only!

MINERAL: Dioptase

LOCATION: Twin Creeks Mine Humboldt Co Nevada

Fine thumbnail of bright green highly refractive dioptase crystals on matrix. Beautiful color, hard to photograph. This specimen has no damage and measures 18 x 15 x 4 mm. Mounted in a perky box, but easily removed.

Small Thumbnail of Gold we call “The Catcher” . This specimen weights 3.8 grams and is 16 x 14 x 11 mm in size. ( .63 inch x .55 inch, x .4 3 inch) . With gold at about $700/0z or $22.50 per gram - nuggets of this size and color are selling now at $31 per gram and higher. This excellent, well proportioned, bright and shiny gold specimen is priced at $29.64 per gram. This is bright, shinny Australian gold from Brown Snake, Fergusson River, Northern Territories. Great example of the high quality from this area.

MINERAL: Poldervaartite

LOCATION: Nchwaning Mine, Kuruman, Kalahari Desert, South Africa.

Nice large thumbnail of Poldervaartite crystalline druze on matrix. mounted in a perky box. The color is excellent. The specimen measures 21 x 21 x 10 mm. This mineral was named for Arie Poldervaart, Professor of Petrology at Columbia University in NY. Only sources are from the N’Chwanning and Wessels mines in Cape Province SA.

MINERAL: Vesuvianite

LOCATION: Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos Canada

Also known when cut into gems as Idocrase, Vesuvianite often forms in crystal pairs as in this specimen. One large crystal is attached to another about 1 mm in diameter. The larger crystal is 7 mm in diameter. The specimen is 25 mm in length. The termination on the larger crystal is fairly gently sloped. Well formed crystal with no damage.

Nice Native Copper specimen typical of the Andacollo Mine . It measures 33 x 16 x 9 cm. Color is a brown/black which is actually very attractive.

MINERAL: Pyromorphite

LOCATION: Daoping Mine, Guangxi Prov, China

This pyromorphite specimen exhibits the bright apple green color typical of thissecondary lead mineral. This specimen is almost hollow. Seen from above this specimen has a hexagonal tunnel through the center. Color is uniform nad the luster is resinous. It measures 21 x 13 x 13 x cm in size. Very attractive thumbnail.
