Description
Excellent miniature of emerald green Dioptase from Namibia. This specimen measures 38 x 21 x 8 mm (1.5 in x 0.8 in x .3 in) with individual translucent prismatic crystals to 5 mm displaying the typical rhombohedral terminations . The crystalline mass is on matrix. Dioptase is occasionally used as a gemstone, and the bright green of the crystals in this well proportioned specimen give good indication of the mineral’s beauty. Dioptase is a hydrous copper silicate with a hardness of 5, so gemstones need special protection from damage if used in jewelry. This specimen has no damage. Bright, clean, and well proportioned example of this beautiful mineral. Displays well.
