Description

Orpiment is a rare mineral that usually forms with realgar. In fact the two minerals are almost always together. Crystals of orpiment are extremely rare as it usually forms masses and crusts. This specimen from Russia measures 56 x 43 x 40 mm and consists of a bright crystalline mass of oripment on matrix. The color is mostly dark orange. Individual crystals are less than 1 mm, mostly radiating from small balls of crystalline material.
