Vanadinite is a lead mineral colored by vanadium and thus typically red to brown in color. The mineral has a resinous luster you can see in the photo. This is a relatively rare mineral usually found in the oxidation zone of ore deposits of galena and other lead minerals. This thumbnail is 28 mm x 15 mm x 7 mm of Vanadinite crystals on matrix.
